On the occasion of the 4th International Colloquium Industrial Floors from January 12th to 14th 1999, at the Technische Akademie Esslingen, Fraunhofer IRB Verlag has published a CD-ROM containing the complete contributions of the last four colloquies.
The CD-ROM "Industrial Floors" is a comprehensive electronic manual and reference-book. In 400 articles prominent experts report on working experiences, latest developments in research and practice in the field of industrial floors as well as on the latest state of engineering concerning the subjects execution, rehabilitation, raw materials, and materials.
The CD-ROM comprises 3,200 pages with many partly coloured illustrations. With more than 1,500 complementary literature references and a trade directory the CD-ROM is a comprehensive information media regarding industrial floors.
The great many of information is made accessible by a progressive user surface which enables a prompt and comfortable search for single information, too. Lists of contents, and alphabetical indexes of authors and subjects offer an access equivalent to the printed version, and enable a direct access to the contributions by links.
The effective access to information was decisive for the editor Dr.Peter Seidler to publish the contributions in electronic form: "How could our know-how be prepared to make it easily accessible? These considerations result in the using of the possibilities of fulltext-searching in order to prepare the manuals of the colloquies in a digital way. Thus information is accessible without any troubles. Thereupon it is the task of the user to gain own knowledge from the information in order to come to the right decision."
