9. Costs of Application
Small building firms often only take account of the costs per kg for the material, without considering the many other costs or properties that are important for application and use. An "enlightened" contractor knows that at least
- wear
- application
- waiting times
- transport costs (including overnight accommodation)
must be included in the calculation. I have already presented some figures from our own company, and these have been based on a material price of 8.00 ¤ per kg for a highly wear-resistant, pigmented sealant and a labour cost of 40.00 ¤ per hour. Each reader can adjust these costs for his local conditions and for different products. The productivity of the workforce has been reckoned at an average of 80 sq. m (50…100 sq. m) per hour.
