4 Seven fields of responsibility

Quality assurance of Reaction Polymers

by Dipl.-Chem. Dr. Peter Seidler

Industrial Floors 1995, International Colloquium Jan 10-12, 1995

4. Seven fields of responsibility

The risks come under very different fields of responsibility, e.g. with reaction polymers:

Seven fields of responsibility (reaction polymers)

1. Raw material manufacturer (industrial chemistry)

  • Monomers (prepolymers) and curing agents
  • Fillers and aggregate
  • Colour pigments
  • Plasticizer and other additives

2. Formulators (building chemistry)

  • Formula and formulation
  • Filling and packing
  • Transport
  • Applications
  • Trials and monitoring

3. Applicator (craft)

  • Advising the architect and owner of the building
  • Preparation of the substrate
  • Execution of work
  • Guarantee

4. Building contractor (general contractor)

  • Coordination

5. Architect (building offices in major industry)

  • Determination of requirements
  • Specification according to the requirements
  • Putting out to tender and placement of contract
  • Construction management (supervision)
  • acceptance

6. Owner

  • Financing, leasing and return on investment

7. User

  • Normal use
  • Care (maintenance) and repair

It is the chain of decision-making which defines the responsibilities of many of those parties involved. Everyone wants to be proud of his contribution to the work as a whole. This pride in one's own work is a major incentive in achieving zero-defect independent work.
