Concretes and cement overlays are far more reliable in terms of freedom from joints and cracks, as well as abrasion and other properties, when suitable dispersions of polymers are added. There is an extensive literature on this subject and, by way of example, we merely refer to the numerous and wide-ranging works of Y.
