11.5 Levelling uneven surfaces

  1. Diagnosis and test area
    · tolerances
    · sealing against capillary moisture
    · measuring roughness (e.g. with sand 0.1…0.4 mm)
  2. Pull-off-strength of > 1.5 N/mm2 from the substrate
  3. Moisture in the concrete (e.g. CM device)
  4. Coating must be able to reach zero mm thickness
  5. Grain size smaller than one third of the thickness
    · multi-layer system if >1 mm thickness
  6. Ensure adhesion between layers in multi-layer systems
  7. Temperature must not fall below dewpoint
    ·
    temperature of substrate (°C)
    · air temperature (3°C of substrate)
    · relative humidity (%)
    · draught air (m/sec)
  8. Flow characteristic influences
    · performance (m2/h/worker)
    · consumption (Ltr/m2/mm)
  9. Change of amount of filler changes the performance
  10. Consumption influenced by density (kg/Ltr)
  11. Imperviousness to liquids only up to a filling ratio 1:6
  12. Use power float ("helicopter") for a filling ratio 1:14
  13. GSP (Good Site Practice) as a standard
