At this point I would like to give you a few personal tips on important literature which you will find valuable in many cases:

For concrete floors the 3rd edition of the book by G. Lohmeyer "Concrete floors in industrial building - indoors and outdoors", which appeared in 1988 and the report by the ACI Committee 302 "Guide for Concrete Floor and Slab Construction", published in 1989, are standard works. For the Spanish-speaking world "Pavimento de Hormigón para Autovías y Autopistas" should be mentioned, a book dealing more especially with roadbuilding.

The very comprehensive brochure "A Manual for the Maintenance and Repair of Concrete Roads", whose second edition appeared in 1987, deals with repairing industrial floors and roads. "Méthode de Choix des Sols Industriels", which gives an overview of the methods used in France for determining characteristics, is still of relevance today.

In the area of industrial floors the German standards DIN 1045 (concrete) and DIN 1995 (bitumen) have been revised.

For reaction polymers the worksheet A 80 "Industrial Floors made from Reaction Resins", published in 1995 by the Industrial Construction Working Group, must be regarded as authoritative. As regards acid-proof construction, worksheet S 10 for tile and slab coverings must be mentioned and also "Concrete and its Chemical Behaviour" by M.S. Eglinton and the "Handbook of Acid-Proof Construction" published by F.K. Falcke and G. Lorentz.

At Esslingen Technical Academy courses are regularly held on recent developments in the field of industrial floors. At the annual trade exhibitions "World of Concrete" in the USA and Europe many of the seminars are always devoted to the latest developments of industrial floors made of concrete. An important meeting point are the ICPIC congresses and workshops.
